still moving along at a good clip. as we move over to san mateo bridge it's hazy as you cross the water between hayward and foster city. an update on the incidents happening to the north in a couple of minutes. >> leyla thank you. let's get to breaking news. thousands of santa clara county union workers will not go on strike after a tentative deal was reached about an hour ago. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in san jose at the county building. >> kristen, they've got a deal but it needs to be approved by county supervisors and the union membership. but no one will be striking today. local 521 tweeted this out just before 4:00 this morning. it stays no strike today. tentative agreement reached. voting times locations to come. congrats to our negotiating team for standing strong. this deal was completed in the past hour or so. about 9,000 or so employees were scheduled to walk off the job if no contract was in place. this is the county's biggest

union, about half of all county employees. a judge did approve an injunction that would have kept 475 essential employees on the job. workers at the jail to juvenile hall, that is not necessary with this deal in place. this is for four years. recent contracts have been for only two years. reporting live in san jose matt keller, abc 7 news. thanks a lot. 5:02 now. gridlock is what nurses at mission bay medical center say will happen if the warriors are allowed to build a new arena nearby. they plan to make their concerns heard on the project. janet owe is live to explain. >> they want to voice their opinions today. but they want to know what's in report. the small kbrup of nurses from ucsf protested yesterday. they were worried that traffic would affect patients who were trying to get to the hospital to access care. they say most importantly,

they're worried about emergency vehicles not able to get through during the jam-packed warriors games. the proposal is calling for an 18,000-seat arena across the street from the hospital in the mission bay neighborhood. a warrior spokesperson says the city's environmental impact report includes plans for traffic mitigation. >> dedicated traffic lanes, dedicated routes to the hospital for people going to the hospital as opposed to going to the arena or any other event. it can totally be done. >> all the nurses love the warriors and support the warriors, but our priority is our patients. >> opponents insist there will only be 200 dedicated parking spots for warriors fans. the warriors say they are building more than 1,000. now, this group of nurses who protest are not affiliated with a group of wealthy donors who also oppose the arena being built here in the mission bay.

if you want to attend the public hearing, it will be held today at 1:00 p.m. at city hall in room 416 public comment will be taken up until july 20th. reporting live here in san francisco, janet o, abc 7 news. janet thank you. a man is reported missing this morning. they're trying to find henry calderon. he left his home at noon on sunday and was last heard from that night. calderon thought he was in the san francisco area, but his last cell phone activity was traced to san rafael. he takes several medications and could be at risk without them. he was last seen driving an acura tl. license number 6 ucj 824. the apartment balcony that collapsed killing six people in berkeley has passed a private inspection. the los angeles times reports an inspector hired by the library gardens complex found no problems with the balcony. the balcony support deck

overhang and rails were reported to be in good condition less than a year ago. last week, berkeley city engineers said dry rot weekened the beams that collapsed. they say apartment managers could not provide proof they did a safety check each year as required by law. 5:05 now. palo alto put more money on the table to save one of the last low-income neighborhoods in that area. they voted to match santa clara's county commitment to purchase the buena vista mobile home park. it comes to $29 million. 400 residents would likely be forced to move if the land is sold to a private owner. a new urgent care center across from a closed hospital in san pablo is expanding. they will talk about the expansion plans today. the hospital next door doctors medical centers closed in april. the lifelong urgent care senn terp opens soon after the attempt to fill the void. it only offers services in

nonlife-threatening injuries. starting tomorrow, it's going to cost you more to ride on un i in san francisco. the discount fare will go up from 75 cents to a dollar. monthly passes will increase by $1 to $3 depending which version you have. the basic adult faefr will be $2.25. cable car fares will go up from $6 to $7. it's part of an automatic increase to cover labor costs and operating fees approved by the muni board. it will soon cost more to drive across the golden gate bridge. it will go up by 25 cents. it will cost $6.25. by plate, will go up to 7.25ds much those in the carpool lane will pay $4.25. how about a live look from the golden gate bridge cameras. golden gate bus service fares will rise about 5%. happening today add another

and ignited himself with a lighter. it was carrying 1,000 passengers and at least nine others were injured, one seriously. most were treated for smoke inhalation. this is the first fatal incident on the high-speed rail network in the 50-year history. six people were injured after a flight had to make an emergency landing in canada last night. the flight en route from edmonton to toronto was diverted to winnipeg because of an unspecified threat. all passengers since their release from the hospital authorities have not released any information about the nature of the threat. >> this morning, president obama is saying the rules on overtime are outdated and that it's time for a change. he wants to require overtime for workers who earn nearly $1,000 a week. that's more than double the current threshold. currently employers can skate around paying overtime to salaried employees who earn more than $455 a week by calling them managers. the proposal will extend overtime protection to about $5

saturday. that's the weather. let's get a check of traffic with leyla. good morning, drew and good morning everyone. we're starting with the bay bridge tolls and what a beautiful start to the morning. you can see pretty light traffic still from the east bay. first over the east bay hills, it is a nice start indeed. as you do come in though, you're at about eight minutes to get you across from east bay into san francisco. obviously, lights not turned on yet. 680 southbound to walnut creek, six-minute commute. nine minutes to highway 13. tracy to dublin, 40 minutes. over the altamont pass. in the eastbound direction from frontage up to highway 13 in piedmont, we have a couple of lanes taken away and a shoulder for tile drying being condon. that's lasting until 6:00. drew mentioned keeping water on hand today because of the temperatures. if you're one of those people

it's 5:23. heading out the door or just joining us seven things to know. number one breaking news in santa clara county. a deal just reached with workers who were less than an hour away from walking off the job. tentative four-year agreement heads off the strike but it still must be voted on by seiu local 521. part of highway 12 is closed in santa rosa this morning due to a traffic accident. the westbound lanes are closed between brush creek road and farmers lane. police estimate the road won't be open until about 6:00. officers have not released any information about the crash itself.

survived their injuries. 280, it is clear. you have not seen any accidents in this vicinity. built on a mudslide. america lease along eastbound aye -- >> leyla thank you very much. breaking news from the south bay where a deal has been reached asserting a strike by -- averting a strike by thousands. it was scheduled for today. matt keller is live with more. >> eric, this really was a last minute deal. workers were scheduled to walk off the job at 6:00 a.m. the county and the union representing about 9,000 workers came to an agreement about an hour and a half ago. check out this tweet from santa clara county supervisor. it says strike averted. thank you, #good faith and #new day. it could have been an interesting and challenging day if the 9,000 employees represented by local 521 walked off the job. that's about half after all county employees.

we have more information for you at abc 7 news.com/app. thousands of people at washington state are still out of their homes as crews desperately try to contain a fast-moving wildfire that's already destroyed at least two dozen homes. the fire is one of nearly 75 burning in the west from alaska to arizona. this one began from unknown causes on sunday and was spread by hot dry weather and strong winds. it quickly scorched 3,000 acres. >> embers were going from one house to another. catching the roofs on fire. >> you grabbed your family kids and our animals. stayed with friends across the river and watched this area burn all night. >> the flames reached several businesses sparking explosions and industrial fires. so far, the wildfire is only 10% contained. san francisco will hold a public hearing today on the environmental impact report for the warriors proposed new arena in mission bay. members of the california nurses

association will actually attend the meeting for the first time publicly, they voice their fears about the project during a rally yesterday. union leaders believed that gameday traffic will delay patients and health care workers on their way to ucsf's new hospital. abc 7 news reporter janet o will have more at the top of the hour. breaking overnight an investigation into what caused an indonesian mill their i plane to crash into a residential neighborhood in morning killing dozens of people. officials have confirmed 49 people died after the c-130 hercules transport went down in indonesian air force officials say it crashed two minutes after taking off. one person is still unaccount add for. back here, two coast guard members walk away with minor injuries after their helicopter made a very hard landing at sfo yesterday. sky 7 hd checked out the damage. the chopper suddenly plunged while hovering ten feet over the ground and flipped over during a maintenance test flight.

airline take-offs and landings stopped for a few minutes while fire trucks raced to the scene. helicopters from humboldt county in los angeles will handle rescues for the time being. new mountain lion sightings. the first one at 10:15 p.m. friday night from bellevue avenue and clark drive. it was spotted walking through a gate at park elementary school. the lion appeared to be calm and didn't act aggressively. the san mateo hills have long seen big cats but relatively uncommon. in the flat lands. last month, the police spotted this one near downtown before tranquilizing it and releasing it near the crystal springs reservoir. one theory, the drought is drawing the animals down to seek food and water. happening today, consumer advocates will call for an investigation into why california gas prices are so high. the group consumer watchdog, the largest refiners of manipulating

their prices. they're asking the attorney general to look into it. today's announcement will be in berkeley before a meeting of the california attorney general and an energy commission committee. >> a former night manager of a south bay science camp for children accused of child molestation will appear in san jose court to enter a plea. 27-year-old edgar padilla is also facing charges of making child pornography. he's known as papa bear. he worked at wall den west science camp in saratoga. he was arrested after local law enforcement was alerted by homeland security. he's accused of molesting a child at the camp and p pornographic i am children on his computer and phone. their rebuttal of a case in -- a police officer shot and killed by a suspected bank robber. the officer was ambushed during a foot chase in 2011. the murder trial of harry albert smith, jr., of fairfield is in

welcome back. it's 5:43. new this morning, the financial minister of greece says this country this default on a $2 billion loan essentially plunging the country into bankruptcy. long lines were formed outside the few atms that have cash remaining. greece faces a deadline of 3:00 p.m. our time to repay a $1.9 billion loan to the international monetary fund. european stocks are down after the biggest one-day fall in four years yesterday. wall street -- greece is holding a referendum this weekend to determine if the country ditches the euro currency and returns to the drak ma. veterinarians will ask california assembly members for a statewide ban on the bull hook. the long metal devices are used by circuses to train control and punish elephants.

it's 5:52. breaking news from san francisco. an lgbt in the mission has been defaced again a mural. someone tried to set it on fire last night. this is the third time now the mural has been vandalized in recent weeks. san francisco fire says there was a fire there but it's been knocked down. a donor who paid for the last mural replacement gave the galleria enough money to keep replacing it if it gets vandalized again. two uber executives in france in police custody being held for questioning after authorities accused the company of operating as an illegal taxi service engaging in unfair practices and compromising personal data. last week, there were violent protests all across france. uber cars were damaged and passengers were threatened. france has outlawed the european version of uber's app. uber by the way is based here
